50 Steps Towards Yourself (you can receive this free by filling in your name and email top right)
I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for this site and for the books you have written, but most of all for sharing your journey with all of us. One of the things I am really enjoying that you put together is your 50 step towards you. I have literally felt myself growing and finding the way back to myself and your steps have been right on in my journey. Recently, I have started missing my feminine side, the one where I am beautiful and desirable. I'm tired of just being a robot mom who cooks and cleans, works, coaches all the kids sports activities and can't remember the last time that I felt pretty. I have been talking this through with a close girlfriend and it was so funny that your step 32 popped up. I have been rearranging things to make time to work out, do my hair. I bought new make-up yesterday and a nightgown to allow myself to feel pretty again. All that to say, thank you. It has been so reassuring to know that I am not alone in this hell, clearly you have walked through the fire before me! One thing I know for sure…….I have become an amazingly strong woman for it! I do things that I never thought possible and people are actually amazed at! Beth
This spirited, passionate, and wonderful book, If Women Ruled the World, (celebration!?) perfectly captures *why* it's so important that women's voices are heard–and how we need to start ruling our own worlds so that we can go out into communities to co-lead and influence the world at-large. Personal stories from women from all walks of life punctuate issues as diverse as body image, animosity between girls, fundamentalism, and health care; the stories are both tear jerkers and laugh-out-loud funny.
If Women Ruled the World
Until I read this book I felt apathetic, believing my oice didn't matter or that I didn't "know enough about politics" to have an opinion, this book challenged me to take action in some way, however small it might be. I'm ready to step up and be counted! Karen
Not only was I compelled to buy this book because of the luring title, I was totally captured by the few stories I allowed myself to read still in the bookstore. When I realized I'd been standing in the middle of the aisle for about twenty minutes, book in hand, I knew I had to bring it home! I saw my thoughts in so many others' opinions, and expanded my thoughts through new opinions presented as well. It is an excellent forum for giving many great women a platform for (hypothetical)ultimate power! More importantly, it's not anti-men, but pro-women, and pro-empowerment of women. It was so fun to see what women would do if they ruled the world. A great read, share this book with every woman you know! Betsy
